Color Guard Detachment

Award Streamers

Founded in the fall of 2002 by Paramedic Pete Fecteau, the Color Guard Detachment are the Department's official representatives in parades and ceremonies where "showing the flag" is warranted.

The Detachment is made up of both prior service and non-prior service members of Worcester EMS who give some of their free time to practice the marching and manual-of-arms (handling of rifles and flags) work that is required. Their practice has paid off well since their founding, as the Detachment took first place in the Marching Group Division of the 2003 Worcester County Saint Patrick's Day Parade, first place overall in the 2004 parade, and a third consecutive first place award for the 2005 parade.
